Why CW Service Pros Recommends FloodStop™ by OnSite PRO, Inc.
Home flooding can be hard to control once it starts. Trying to simultaneously shut off the water to prevent more flooding and contain the water that’s already flooded makes things chaotic. It’s easy to panic and feel like the situation is out of your control. Even a relatively small flood can very quickly cause a huge amount of water damage in your home.
To protect against home flooding and all the trouble it causes, CW Service Pros recommends FloodStop™ by OnSite PRO, Inc.
We recommend this simple leak detector device but incredibly effective at shutting off water quickly to prevent catastrophic losses. Most importantly, CW Service Pros recommends FloodStop for leak detection because it can be used in areas that may be hard to reach when a leak starts. Want an easy way to prevent flooding caused by leaking fixtures or appliances? This is it.
What Is FloodStop?
The FloodStop line is a series of products that attach to water fixtures and water-using home appliances. There are attachments for:
Sinks
Dishwashers
Washing machines
Water heaters
And more
FloodStop performs a basic but essential function: If an appliance starts to leak, the device triggers an automatic water shutoff. Once triggered, it automatically turns off the water supply to the area—preventing flooding before it causes major damage.
Note: FloodStop is a flood-protection device. Its function is to detect water leaks and prevent flooding by shutting off water access. It is not a leak-prevention device, meaning leaks can still happen. If an appliance or fixture starts to leak, FloodStop acts to minimize water damage.
How Does FloodStop Work?
FloodStop has three main components:
A control panel
A water sensor
A motorized ball valve
It can be battery-powered or AC-powered, depending on your preferences and what is practical for the installation site.
Here’s how it works:
The FloodStop valve is installed upstream on the appliance’s water access line. When in the ON position, the valves are open, and water passes into the appliance as normal.
Water sensors are installed in vulnerable areas. Typically, this means around the base of the appliance.
If the FloodStop water sensor becomes wet, this signals the control panel to activate the ball valve.
The valve shuts and turns off the appliance’s access to the water supply.
The control panel alarm is triggered, letting you know to check the appliance.
Once FloodStop has been activated, the valve stays closed until the water sensor dries out and the reset button on the control panel has been pressed. This ensures that water access isn’t restored until you’re ready for it.
You can install it in a number of locations to protect your entire home from flooding caused by leaking appliances and water fixtures. Options include:
FloodStop for Sinks
FloodStop for Dishwashers
FloodStop for Water Heaters
FloodStop for Icemakers
FloodStop for Washing Machines
In addition, there’s a FloodStopTM WiFi Link-Up module. This unit can be used to upgrade any single FloodStop control panel. Once it’s correctly linked, the WiFi-enabled control panel will send email or SMS alerts if the water sensor triggers at that location. This allows for remote monitoring of your home appliances.
