Picking Baths
If you’ve got a small sized bathroom and you’re looking for ways to maximize your space as you remodel, you may want to consider adding a corner bath. Corner showers also work well for maximizing the space, but they don’t give the relaxing and luxurious feeling of a bathtub. Corner baths are trendy and chic, so you won’t risk appearing limited when remodeling in a smaller space.
What’s the Difference in Size?
The main difference is that instead of having an elongated oval or rectangular shape, they tend to have more of a triangular shape. The shape allows them to fit nicely into a corner while still giving the bather plenty of room to stretch out and relax. While most corner baths aren’t as long as rectangular baths, they still offer plenty of soaking room, and many can fit two people because of the extra width gained with the triangle shape. On average, a corner bath will hold about the same volume of water as a traditional bath, although smaller and larger options exist.
Do They Work the Same As Traditional Baths?
Yes. Corner baths have the same kind of piping and hot and cold water options as a regular bath, and they work just as well for showers too. The only major difference you’d need to consider is you’ll need a curtain rod or shower doors made for a corner bath. Traditional rods and doors go straight across and won’t work compatibly with a corner bath. Many corner baths also come in “left-hand” or “right-hand” orientations, meaning that the drain and faucets are on one side of the bath or the other. Be sure to find out how your corner bath will be oriented before you have it installed so you don’t have any surprises during installation.
What It Can Do For Your Bathroom
A corner bath will enhance the look of your bathroom and give you more space. These baths have front panels that are often considerably more decorative than many of the traditional tubs. This gives your bathtub an elegant and unique look. Also, because of the triangular design, some will have significantly more storage space for toiletries. You can also opt for a whirlpool feature, giving you the luxury of a spa right in your own home. With regard to space, corner baths leave more room in a bathroom and give you more space for other fixtures like a sink, vanity or laundry hamper. It’s a great option for remodeling in smaller spaces.
